Plantations International Joins United Nations Global Compact

Joining the United Nations Global Compact

The Plantations International Group of Companies announced that it has been accepted into the United Nations Global Compact. The announcement is dated 5 December 2021 and was last modified on 14 May 2023.

The company pledges to support the Global Compact's Ten Principles, which cover human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. By this announcement, it states its intent to put those principles into practice.

The company commits to making the Global Compact and its principles part of its strategy, culture and daily operations. It also pledges to join collaborative projects that advance the UN's broader development goals, especially the Sustainable Development Goals.

Communication on Progress

The company has publicly stated this commitment to its stakeholders and the public. It acknowledges that participants must submit an annual Communication on Progress (COP) describing their efforts to implement the Ten Principles.

The company commits to reporting on its progress within one year of joining and every year after that, in line with the COP policy. This includes:

• A statement from the chief executive that reaffirms continued support for the Global Compact and its principles, separate from the initial letter of commitment.
• A description of practical actions, such as policies, procedures and activities, taken or planned for each of the four issue areas: human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
• A measurement of outcomes, showing how well targets or performance indicators were met, or other qualitative or quantitative results.
